Debian on MIPS based Cobalt machines
Linux and Debian runs very well on MIPS based Cobalt machines, such as the Qube, RaQ, Qube2, RaQ2, Gateway Microserver. For years, only the outdated Linux 2.0 kernel Cobalt originally shipped would work on this hardware while new versions of the Linux kernel would not work reliably. Fortunately, due to excellent work by Peter Horton current versions of Linux from the 2.4 and 2.6 series work very well.
There has been an unofficial port of Debian 3.0 (woody) to Cobalt, but it was not supported by the Debian project. This has changed with the release of Debian 3.1 (sarge). Since then, it has been possible to easily install Debian on MIPS based Cobalt Microservers using the standard installer from Debian.
